5 Tips for Keeping Your Dog’s Teeth Clean

When it comes to keeping our dogs healthy, many owners overlook the importance of oral hygiene.
But, just like us, dogs can develop dental disease, which can affect the health of their whole body. Over time, plaque accumulates on your dog’s teeth, and if it isn’t removed, it hardens into tartar. This leads to gum irritation and periodontal disease.

Fortunately, there are several options available to you to help keep your dog’s teeth and gums in good health.

Here is how you can care for your dog’s teeth at any age to prevent gum disease and improve their stinky breath.

Brushing Your Dog’s Teeth

Brushing your dog’s teeth might sound silly, but it’s an excellent way to prevent plaque buildup. You don’t need to brush your dog’s teeth daily, although the more often, the better. Most dogs aren’t too fond of the idea at first, but you can easily train them.

Also, use toothpaste that is made specifically for dogs. Toothpaste for humans contains ingredients that are toxic to our pets. Plus, dog toothpaste usually comes in a delicious chicken or peanut butter flavour.

Dog Chews

There are hundreds of different types of chews, but not all of them are good for your pet. Chewing is good for your dog’s health and picking the right chew toy is very important.

Fortunately for me, I found Super Chewer, the most popular dog subscription box. This box contains 2 tough toys (always fluff-free) – like Petsafe Ninja Star, or Kong Extreme Indestructible, 2 full bags of treats (always made in the USA or Canada), and 2 meaty chews (always all-natural), selected for your dog based on size. Every box brings your dog more than $50 worth of toys and treats.

The idea of a subscription box for pet toys is perfect, especially considering that my dog is a destructive pup.

The most important is that you will receive a free new Super Chewer box if your dog defeats a toy. You can have one box for $39 or if you think your dog can handle more, you can subscribe for 6 months ($34) or 12 months ($29). And every month you will receive different toys and food for your pet. The toys are very durable and are made from all-natural rubber making them so safe.

This box is perfect for a person who doesn’t have much time to spend on the market. I continue with BarkBox because it’s easier to get high-quality toys and treats in the mail than it is to remember to go to the pet store. Also, even though I couldn’t find a price for everything included in the box, I know the value exceeded what I paid. If you are interested, here you find the Super Chewer BarkBox. I am sure that you will be excited about the box and your dog will love all the things that are inside her.

Dog Tooth Wipes

Dental Wipes are handy if your dog really objects to having his teeth brushed. They contain herbs and baking soda to polish his teeth and reduce plaque accumulation. Wrap a Dental Wipe around your finger and wipe it over all the surfaces of his teeth every day.

Water additives

You can purchase water additives to help keep your dog’s teeth and gums in good health. Water additives also break down the bacteria that cause plaque and tartar in your dog’s mouth. Plaque and tartar are a serious problem, as they can lead to bleeding gums and inflammation if not treated.

Give him some treats

Chewing is a natural behaviour for all dogs. It allows them to explore the world around them, exercise their jaws and clean their teeth. So, in this case, dog treats are one of the best options. But, don’t forget: not all treats are good for your dog.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest factors in how we choose a good dog food is the cost. And who has a pet knows that dog food is expensive.

But fortunately, there are promotions that save us spending too much money. I am always looking for such opportunities and yesterday I found something amazing: a gift card for Purina free pet food for a year. Great, isn’t?

I immediately applied and I told all of my friends about this summer campaign. This is a good opportunity and your dog will be happy, for sure. Plus, you can save money. So, apply for this offer and buy your dog the best treats. Your dog is a part of the family, so he deserves healthy, delicious food.

These reduce tartar and plaque, freshens breath, and helps maintain healthy gums – and that’s something you and your pup can smile about. I am sure that your pet will love this product.

The best way to look after your dog’s teeth is with daily brushing and twice yearly visits to the veterinarian. Any dental care regime must be comfortable for your dog and for you. If he doesn’t like his toothbrush, choose one of the other options listed to keep his mouth clean and healthy.

Can a very diluted amount of hydrogen peroxide in water help clean a dog’s teeth/breath?

I would not try it.I would say talk to a vet before using ANY chemical in a dogs mouth.

Peroxide is used to induce vomiting for a dog. I sure wouldn’t give to a dog routinely.

Hey! Does any one know what I can do my dog is starting to get brown stuff on there teeth what is it?

It’s tartar, like we get if our teeth aren’t cleaned. Your dog needs it’s teeth scaled by a vet. It will save your dog from gingivitis which can cause kidney disease and other problems. Try getting your dog used to having its teeth brushed or buy some dental chews and avoid soft foods.
